Sheffield, UK, a woman was surprised after one of the plumbers Sheffield handed her the wedding ring she lost 10 years ago while washing dishes on their kitchen sink.
Louise Smith, 46, said she took the ring off since she would be washing some dishes sometime in November 2007. However, the ring slid from the counter top and fell right to the drain. Smith said she called for an emergency plumber in an attempt to recover the wedding ring but it was never recovered.
Smith was just married for two years at that time so she was pretty devastated with the loss of her wedding ring. Smith’s husband Oliver was out of town that time and was also saddened with losing his wife’s ring.
10 years after, a blockage on their water pipe prompted Smith to contact Pro-Jett Plumbing & Drainage to have some plumbers Sheffield fix their piping system.Much to her amazement, the plumber, Nick Betts, informed her that he seemed to have found a ring but was not quite sure about it at first since the ring was covered with silt and heavy smudge.
According to Betts, he immediately washed the ring and showed it to the property owner. Louise Smith was happy to recover her wedding ring and she shared that she was no longer hoping to recover it and was no longer thinking so much about it. Now that she has her ring back, she vowed never to place it in areas where it could potentially fall off to drains and sewers.
Smith said that she was fortunate enough to have hired an honest plumber such as Betts who did not think twice about showing the ring to the Smith and eventually return it to its rightful owner. Betts advised Smith and to all home owners to never wash their hands with their ring on it, more so when their sink doesn’t have a drain. Betts also advised home owners to call qualified plumbers Sheffield when something important fell down the drain or in their sewers.
